28 May 2024Below you can check out some of the composition from the show, specifically the “up and down” sequence towards the end of the show where the mischievous Puck brings the four Athenian lovers together to clear the effects of the love flower. Though this was originally written to be sung as a choral, the dark and minor timbre of the track was repurposed as underscore for this moment. I also created a few three and four part harmonic choral’s for some of the songs in the show, many of which were based off of Christmas choral but repurposed to infuse elements of the pagan and nordic influence into them. Additionally, fairy magic was a major element of the show and involved a mix of more traditional sound effects (whooshes, low rumbles, etc) in conjunction with various samples of ice, frost, and snow. The primary magic-users of the world were Oberon, Titania, Puck, and the fairy ensemble. Each of these four had their own sonic dramaturgy so that the sound (along with light and movement) could clarify who was casting what and when. Below you can sample a few cues from the production.
