Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing is an evening-length concert that I created with a handful of close friends for my CalArts graduation thesis. The concert contained ten works, half of which were composed by me and half were collaborative compositions between myself and other composers. The binding element of all of these pieces were Field Recordings taken in three contrasting yet incredibly biodiverse regions of the United States: Southwestern California, the Northeast Appalachian region surrounding Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and parts of upstate New York, and the Southern Appalachian Mountains.

The recordings of these ecological regions are explored in conjunction with electronic manipulation and deviation, pitched instrumentation, dronescapes, and noise to create a dense dramaturgy of sound. Throughout the performance, these ecological soundscapes cut and blur between a landscape of questions, frustrations, abstractions, and anxieties revolving around the Climate Crisis.

The project was broken into three parts, each dealing with recordings of a different ecological region.
